The game starts you out with a simple vehicle that you must race across the terrain found in that level. It features just two controls on the sides of the screen that you use to accelerate or brake. The game asks you to race across hills and valleys without flipping your vehicle over. You'll come across coins on each level that you can use to upgrade your car, which may help you get through some levels easier and faster.

While Hill Climb Racing sounds like an easy game, it's anything but easy. Some levels are so difficult that you might find yourself tipping over after moving just a few feet. Symbols on the screen show you how much gas you have left, how many points you scored, and your current speed. Though you must accelerate to get over some hills, driving too quickly will drain your fuel before you reach the end of the level. Obstacles in the game can also damage your car and make it impossible to reach the end.

As you advance through each level, you'll find yourself driving and riding other types of vehicles. While you start out in a simple car, you later have the chance to drive a boat and a scooter. One level even puts you in control of a roller coaster filled with other passengers. The difficulty of each level also increases, which can leave you feeling frustrated and unable to keep going.

Designed years ago, Hill Climb Racing has outdated graphics that look worse on newer phones than on older phones. Those graphics will remind you of the classic arcade games that you played in the past and will make you want to share this game with others.
